ACADEMICS
General Curriculum
All students at Sacred Heart School take a well rounded curriculum which
includes Religion, Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading, and English.
Religion/Faith Formation
Sacred Heart Catholic School's religion curriculum reinforces the church's
teaching of the sacraments and catechism and presents a model of Christian
fellowship through the Sadlier text. In addition, we offer:
- Weekly and Holy Day Mass attendance
- Opportunities for Reconciliation
- Opportunities for Stewardship
- Preparation for First Reconciliation (2nd Grade)
- Preparation for First Eucharist (2nd Grade)
- Preparation for Confirmation (8th Grade)
- Variety of Prayer Services – Blessing of the Animals, Veteran’s Day, May
Crowning, etc.
Resources
- ART: Students in grades K
through 8 attend art classes taught by a certified and experienced teacher.
The art program emphasizes hands-on learning through a variety of media.
Students are exposed to watercolors, pen and ink, weaving, stamping,
calligraphy, and others.
- MUSIC: K through 8
participate in weekly music classes taught by a certified and experienced
teacher. Students learn rhythm, tempo, pitch, and tonality using their voices
and a variety of instruments.
- COMPUTER: Students in
grades K through 5 attend weekly computer classes. Grades 6 through 8 attend
computer twice a week. Students are given the opportunity to reinforce
academic skills as well as develop their technology skills.
- SPANISH: K through 5
participate in weekly Spanish classes. Grades 6 through 8 attend Spanish
classes twice a week.
- LIBRARY: K through 8
attend weekly library classes. The early childhood classes enjoy story time.
Elementary grades develop library skills, while the middle school focuses on
research skills. Grades 1 through 8 are allowed to check out books.
- P.E.: All grades
participate in P.E. classes twice a week taught by a certified and experience
teacher. In addition grades K through 5 have recess daily.
- Guidance: A part-time
guidance counselor visits the classrooms on a regular basis for group
instruction and meets with students one-on-one as needed.
Note: The Pre-K students attend Art, Library, Music, and P.E. weekly.
